NETBible: What shall we say then? – that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,

HCSB: What should we say then? Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained righteousness--namely the righteousness that comes from faith.

LEB: What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness—even the righteousness [that is] by faith.

NIV: What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;

NLT: Well then, what shall we say about these things? Just this: The Gentiles have been made right with God by faith, even though they were not seeking him.

GNB: So we say that the Gentiles, who were not trying to put themselves right with God, were put right with him through faith;

ERV: So what does all this mean? It means that people who are not Jews were made right with God because of their faith, even though they were not trying to make themselves right.

EVD: So what does all this mean? It means this: That the non-Jews were not trying to make themselves right with God. But they were made right with God. They became right because of their faith.

BBE: What then may we say? That the nations who did not go after righteousness have got righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:

MSG: How can we sum this up? All those people who didn't seem interested in what God was doing actually [embraced] what God was doing as he straightened out their lives.

Phillips NT: Now, what do we conclude? That the gentiles who never seriously pursued righteousness, have attained righteousness, righteousnessbyfaith.

CEV: What does all of this mean? It means that the Gentiles were not trying to be acceptable to God, but they found that he would accept them if they had faith.

CEVUK: What does all this mean? It means that the Gentiles were not trying to be acceptable to God, but they found that he would accept them if they had faith.

GWV: So what can we say? We can say that non–Jewish people who were not trying to gain God’s approval won his approval, an approval based on faith.
