[VER] : [ASSAMESE]     [PL]  [PB]
 <<  Ecclesiastes 3 : 19 >>

NETBible: For the fate of humans and the fate of animals are the same: As one dies, so dies the other; both have the same breath. There is no advantage for humans over animals, for both are fleeting.

NASB: For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity.

HCSB: For the fate of people and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; they all have the same breath. People have no advantage over animals, for everything is futile.

LEB: Humans and animals have the same destiny. One dies just like the other. All of them have the same breath of life. Humans have no advantage over animals. All of life is pointless.

NIV: Man’s fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.

ESV: For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity.

NRSV: For the fate of humans and the fate of animals is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and humans have no advantage over the animals; for all is vanity.

REB: Human beings and beasts share one and the same fate: death comes to both alike. They all draw the same breath. Man has no advantage over beast, for everything is futility.

NKJV: For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.

KJV: For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all [is] vanity.

NLT: For humans and animals both breathe the same air, and both die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!

GNB: After all, the same fate awaits human beings and animals alike. One dies just like the other. They are the same kind of creature. A human being is no better off than an animal, because life has no meaning for either.

ERV: The same thing happens to animals and to people—they die. People and animals have the same ‘breath.’ Is a dead animal different from a dead person? It is all so senseless!

BBE: Because the fate of the sons of men and the fate of the beasts is the same. As is the death of one so is the death of the other, and all have one spirit. Man is not higher than the beasts; because all is to no purpose.

MSG: Humans and animals come to the same end--humans die, animals die. We all breathe the same air. So there's really no advantage in being human. None. Everything's smoke.

CEV: Like animals we breathe and die, and we are no better off than they are. It just doesn't make sense.

CEVUK: Like animals we breathe and die, and we are no better off than they are. It just doesn't make sense.

GWV: Humans and animals have the same destiny. One dies just like the other. All of them have the same breath of life. Humans have no advantage over animals. All of life is pointless.

NET [draft] ITL: For <03588> the fate <04745> of humans <0120> <01121> and the fate <04745> of animals <0929> are the same <0259>: As one <02088> dies <04194>, so <03651> dies <04194> the other <02088>; both <03605> have the same <0259> breath <07307>. There is no <0369> advantage <04195> for humans <0120> over <04480> animals <0929>, for <03588> both <03605> are fleeting <01892>.
