A psalm: a song: for the sabbath day IT is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing psalms to your name, Most High,

to declare your love in the morning and your faithfulness every night

to the music of a ten-stringed harp, to the sounding chords of the lyre.

Your acts, LORD, fill me with exultation; I shout in triumph at your mighty deeds.

How great are your deeds, LORD, how very deep are your thoughts!

Anyone who does not grasp this is a stupid person, and a fool does not understand it:

that though the wicked grow like grass and every evildoer prospers, they will be finally destroyed,

while you, LORD, reign for ever.

Your enemies, LORD, your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

You have raised my head high like the horns of a wild ox; I am anointed richly with oil.

I look on my enemies' ruin, I hear the downfall of my wicked foes.

The righteous flourish like a palm tree, they grow tall as a cedar on Lebanon;

planted in the house of the LORD, and flourishing in the courts of our God,

they still bear fruit in old age; they are luxuriant, wide-spreading trees.

They declare that the Lord is just: my rock, in him there is no unrighteousness.
