AYT: Celakalah orang yang berkata kepada sepotong kayu: "Bangunlah!" Dan, kepada sebuah batu bisu: "Berjagalah!" Itukah pengajarmu? Memang, ia bersalutkan emas dan perak, tetapi sama sekali tidak ada roh di dalamnya.

Kannada: <ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಗೆ <ಎಚ್ಚತ್ತುಕೋ,> ಜಡವಾದ ಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ <ಎದ್ದೇಳು> ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡುವವನು ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನನು. ಇಂಥ ಬೊಂಬೆಯು ಬೋಧಿಸೀತೇ? ಇಗೋ, ಆ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಆದರೂ ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಜೀವವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
